    Greetings LUSD Parents and Staff,

With the recent mask mandate change, LUSD will be implementing the new requirements beginning on Monday, March 14, 2022. Effective 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022, the current mask requirement for all indoor spaces on K-12 campuses will end. The new guidance strongly recommends all people indoors on K-12 campuses continue to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Our signage on campus will be changing in the coming weeks. Please take a moment to reinforce with your child that wearing a mask at school is not mandated; however, we do anticipate a significant number of students and staff may continue to choose to wear a mask while indoors. We want all members of our LUSD community to be respectful of the mask decision made by each person.

    Stay well,
    Matt Bullard

    Mantente bien,
    Matt Bullard

Good evening Lakeport USD families and staff,

Our school community is being impacted by the increased number of cases associated with COVID-19. Presently, all of our current athletic teams are facing COVID-19 related issues. As a result, LUSD will be issuing a short-term pause on all activities. Beginning Friday, January 7th, and running through Sunday, January 16th, all student activities, including sports teams, clubs, and fine arts productions, will be paused. During this time period, there will be no competitions, productions, or organized practices.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to support the health and safety of the staff, students, and families of LUSD.

    Stay Well,

These tests will be distributed on Saturday, January 1st, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Clear Lake High School Parking Lot (drive-thru distribution). Good Afternoon LUSD Families and Staff:

Beginning Thursday, November 4th, our automated attendance phone call system will be back online. Due to Covid-19 impacts, this system has been turned off since Spring of 2020. As a reminder to all families, if students are not in attendance at school, and the school is not notified by a family contact by 11:00 a.m., the system will make a phone call to the appropriate family contacts inquiring about the student's attendance. The system will operate in the identical manner as it has in the past. If you have specific questions regarding this system, please contact the main office at your child's school.

    Stay well,
    Matt Bullard

    Families of Lakeport USD,

This week marks the first week our entire student body has been on campus for in-person learning in nearly eighteen months. We are extremely grateful for the support our community and families have provided LUSD to allow the return to school for in-person instruction. Together, we can keep our students in school.

As we close the first week of school, we are starting to see some impacts of Covid-19 in our school community. We are asking all families to consistently implement the following safety measures:

    1. If your child(ren) are not feeling well or feels ‘off’, please keep them home out of an abundance of caution. LUSD will work with all families to mitigate the effects of students missing class. We would prefer that all families exercise a high degree of caution when choosing to keep children at home.
    2. If a family member or close contact tests positive for Covid-19, please keep all household members home from school and contact your child’s school office to determine the required course of action.
    3. Please reinforce with your children the importance of wearing a properly fitted mask (above the nose and over the mouth) at all times while at school.

In the event that your child is determined to be in close contact with a Covid-19 positive case at school, you will be contacted by a school official to communicate the circumstances associated with the close contact and the quarantining process that will be required before returning to school. We appreciate your cooperation and assistance and we will navigate the return to in-person learning.

    Onward Lakeport!
    Matt Bullard

Lakeport Unified School District is excited to welcome students back to campus for the 2021-2022 school year. As we prepare for the first day of school, there are several important pieces of information included in this message.

    1. Lakeport Unified School District Open House
On Tuesday, August 10th LUSD will host a Back-To-School Open House for all school sites from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. All students and families are invited to attend. Students will have the ability to meet their teachers and check out a Chromebook. Families will be able to access school bus pick up times and complete any necessary back-to-school paperwork. LUSD will also have hotdog, chips and water available for all families. We hope to see everyone back on campus for Open House! Please remember to bring your face covering to the Open House event.

    2. New Website Domain
Please note the change in our school district website. Our homepage can now be found at www.lakeportusd.org. If you have our website bookmarked, now would be a good time to update that bookmark.

    3. Covid-19 Mitigation Strategies
Below is a summary of the mitigation measures in place as we open the school year. We will need everyone’s support and cooperation to keep school open and students on campus. As modifications are made to our mitigation measures, updates will be communicated with all students, families and staff. To begin the school year, the following measures are being implemented:

    • Face coverings: All persons on campus, regardless of vaccination status, need to be wearing an approved face covering when in the company of other people. This includes all indoor and outdoor spaces. Face coverings are also required
    • Hand Hygiene: All school buildings will provide all students with multiple opportunities daily for hand washing. Specific hand washing strategies will be a point of instruction where age appropriate. Specific times during the school day will be prioritized for hand washing, including before and after all meals and during all restroom breaks.
    • Physical Distancing: All staff will maximize physical distancing to the maximum extent possible. This includes all indoor and outdoor learning environments.
    • Cleaning: LUSD will develop a daily cleaning routine for general cleaning activities. The activities will be implemented upon the return of students to campus. Additional cleaning protocols will be implemented if a positive Covid-19 case occurs on campus.
    • Testing / Screening: LUSD has the capability to provide rapid antigen testing and traditional PCR testing on site. The District will offer a voluntary testing option for all employees on a weekly basis. The District will continue to offer screening and testing options for students on a volunteer basis.
    • Other Considerations: The District will be following the California Department of Public Health guidance, not the CDC guidance. In the event that the CDC offers new guidance regarding a specific mitigation strategy but CDPH does not follow suit, the District will continue implementing CDPH guidance. The best mitigation strategy remains vaccination. The District will continue to partner with Public Health and other organizations to offer as many vaccination opportunities as possible for our students, staff, families and community. Lastly, we are asking all families to please partner with LUSD to keep our schools open for in-person instruction by keeping your child(ren) home if they are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms. A copy of the latest symptoms can be found here.

    4. Independent Study Option
During the 2021-2022 school year, all students and families have an option to enroll in the Independent Study option due to Covid-19 concerns. Check out the Independent Study letter (English / Spanish) from LUSD. If you are interested in enrolling your child in the Independent Study option, please contact your child’s school office.

    5. Annual Information for Parents
Enclosed (English / Spanish) is information for all families regarding Annual Parent Rights Notification, Student Accident Insurance information, and our notice to all families of LUSD’s intent to provide breakfast and lunch to all students at no charge for the 2021-2022 school year.

We look forward to an exciting and rewarding 2012-2022 school year. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s school office with any questions or concerns.

    Onward Lakeport!
