  • What is CTE or Career Technical Education?

    A program of study that involves a multiyear sequence of courses that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to postsecondary education and careers. Career and technical education (CTE) is the practice of teaching specific career skills to students in middle school, high school, and post-secondary institutions.

    CTE is split into career clusters that apply to different high-demand careers:

    1. Agriculture and Natural Resources
    2. Arts, Media, and Entertainment
    3. Building and Construction Trades
    4. Business and Finance
    5. Education, Child Development, and Family Services
    6. Energy, Environment, and Utilities
    7. Engineering and Architecture
    8. Fashion and Interior Design
    9. Health Science and Medical Technology
    10. Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation
    11. Information and Communication Technologies
    12. Manufacturing and Product Development
    13. Marketing, Sales, and Services
    14. Public Services
    15. Transportation

     

    What CTE courses does Clear Lake High School offer?

    CLHS currently offers:

    •  Building and Construction Trades: Cabinetry, Millwork, and Woodworking

    This pathway provides learning opportunities for students interested in preparing for careers in cabinet construction, millwork, finishing carpentry, and furniture making for both production and custom products. Careers associated with this pathway include, but are not limited to Cabinetmaker, Cabinet Installer, Woodworking Machinery Operator, Custom Millwork Project Estimator, and Woodworking Engineer/Drafter (CAD). Students may also earn industry-relevant certifications.

    • Information and Communication Technologies

    Information Support and Services–the foundation of all successful business organizations today & software and systems development–for careers related to computer science that involve software programs to satisfy the operational needs of modern business organizations.
